Fog In The Forest

the dampness hits my lungs
and I cough
but it soon alleviates
my body and soul

nature is never bad
it is only my body that has been corrupted by unnatural things
of everyday life

fog forest green leaves

soon the mist will lift
the darkness of night will be gone
and the sun will shine bright
a lesson for me here
do not despair
after the darkness of the night
always comes light

mist tall trees

fog dissipating woods

the fog is thick
and the road is damp
the miles stretch before me
there is the unknown beyond
even nature is sullen
shorn of its usual vivacious colors
but I brood not

Mother Nature
even when in a sullen mood
is better than anything else

road fog trees autumn

Hindu Chant For Peace Of Mind: OM SHANTI OM

om hindu symbol divine

"Om" is a mantra and mystical Sanskrit sound of Hindu origin (geographically, sacred and important in various religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. The syllable is also referred to as omkara or aumkara, literally "om syllable", and in Sanskrit it is sometimes referred to as praṇava, literally "that which is sounded out loudly".

The syllable "om" is first described as all-encompassing mystical entity in the Upanishads. Today, in all Hindu art, 'om' can be seen virtually everywhere, a common sign for Hinduism and its philosophy and theology. Hindus believe that as creation began, the divine, all-encompassing consciousness took the form of the first and original vibration manifesting as sound "OM". Before creation began it was "Shunyākāsha", the emptiness or the void. Shunyākāsha, meaning literally "no sky", is more than nothingness, because everything then existed in a latent state of potentiality. The vibration of "OM" symbolises the manifestation of God in form. "OM" is the reflection of the absolute reality, it is said to be "Adi Anadi", without beginning or the end and embracing all that exists. The mantra "OM" is the name of God, the vibration of the Supreme. When taken letter by letter, A-U-M represents the divine energy (Shakti) united in its three elementary aspects: Bhrahma Shakti (creation), Vishnu Shakti (preservation) and Shiva Shakti (liberation, and/or destruction).

Rivers

A brook can be a friend in a special way. It talks to you with splashy gurgles. It cools your toes and lets you sit quietly beside it when you don't feel like speaking

Wild rivers are earth's renegades, defying gravity, dancing to their own tunes, resisting the authority of humans, always chipping away, and eventually always winning.
 — Richard Bangs, River Gods

What makes a river so restful to people is that it doesn't have any doubt—it is sure to get where it is going, and it doesn't want to go anywhere else.
 — Hal Boyle

The song of the river ends not at her banks but in the hearts of those who have loved her.
— Buffalo Joe

The mark of a successful man is one that has spent an entire day on the bank of a river without feeling guilty about it.
— Chinese philosopher

A river is the cosiest of friends. You must love it and live with it before you can know it.

Rivers hardly ever run in a straight line. Rivers are willing to take ten thousand meanders and enjoy every one and grow from every one. When they leave a meander, they are always more than when they entered it. When rivers meet an obstacle, they do not try to run over it. They merely go around but they always get to the other side. Rivers accept things as they are, conform to the shape they find the world in, yet nothing changes things more than rivers. Rivers move even mountains into the sea. Rivers hardly ever are in a hurry yet is there anything more likely to reach the point it sets out for than a river?
- James Dillet Freeman, Rivers

The trees reflected in the river—they are unconscious of a spiritual world so near to them. So are we.

Peace Of Mind Images: Blue water

Who Am I? Why am I unhappy? Perhaps in the company of limitless nature I will understand how little I am. How futile are the insecurities and fears that I have. I will find peace here.... In nature.....

I sat alone
My head sunk
I was sad, depressed
Tired of the world
I looked up
Perhaps prompted by the lapping sound
Of the serene water at my feet
My gloom lifted
As I gazed at the unending azure
The little ripples on the water smiled at me
I too smiled back
And relaxed in the arms of Mother Nature

Peace Of Mind Images: Forest

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there's some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
